Essential Information
Appearance: Nova stands about 5"3, which is typically shorter than most people but not as short as some. She has golden, blonde hair, usually long enough to hang around her shoulder but she has been known to cut it as short as chin-length. She often wears her hair up in a pony-tail or a bun, especially when she is studying. Her eyes a blue, usually taking on a shad close to grey but may appear different depending on the clothing and light. She's slim, not strongly built but does have a fair amount of muscle to support her. Nova is a bit of a wild dresses, wearing anything from crazy dresses to cute tank-tops and jeans. She typically dresses comfortable but cleans up well. She often worries about her sense of style, unsure of how solid is when she tries. She enjoys the eclectic styles but understands that those are not stylish.
Personality: Nova is a thinker, making it no surprise that she was sorted into Ravenclaw. She tries to think first and act second. This often diminishes her appearance of bravery. Sometimes she gets too lost in thought to jump in on the action. She also can appear slow in conversation, always considering the best thing to say and often speaking after the topic has already changed.
This overthinking and slowness has led Nova to a lonely life. She is often jealous of those with strong friendships and wishes she could have the same. It will take a patient person to break through to her as she now stubbornly believes she is not fit for friends.
Nova has the ability for loyalty and is a very honest person. She is capable of lying but usually considers the downside and avoids it. However, if it comes to it, she may end up twisting the truth.
Were she not a careful thinker, Nova would be quite brave. She cares deeply for the feelings of others and internally finds it quite easy to sympathize with them. This can make her quite kind. She is always rather selfless, willing to give up what she has for the sake of others.
However, reputation-wise, Nova is a very competitive person. She strives to be perfect in everything she does. She desires the top grades, if not perfect grades, and to achieve the highest scores she can. She always wants to outdo others around her. If engaged in competition, she can become a rather rude person. She is also quite ambitious, striving for power and excellence although she does not often allow this to control her or show too much. She simply craves a deeper responsibility.
Although she does do a good job of controlling it, she also has a rather mischievous and troublemaking side to her.
Family: Nova is quite detached from her father but rather close to her mother. She is half-blood, her mother being the witch and her father being the muggle. Her father never understood wizardry and her mother loved him despite this flaw. Due to this, Nova's mother wiped his memory of magic and left the majority of magic behind, although she still uses it to provide an easier life when he is not nearby. Nova's father, Allen Griffin, does not know that his daughter attends Hogwarts. Instead, he thinks she is off at an all-girls boarding school. She has to maintain this lie when she goes home, a fact that she hates but puts up with for her mother's sake. Most of her brilliance comes from her father, who is quite the genius in the Muggle World. As for her mother, this is where she gets her ambition. Her mother, Giselle Griffin, was part of the Slytherin house during her time at Hogwarts and is rather disappointed that her daughter was not sorted to Slytherin. However, the two are very close, likely due to their bond through magic.
History: Nova was born and raised in London, living a happy childhood in the city. She was closer to her father until she turned 11 and received her letter. She was surprised, confused and overjoyed when she learned she was a witch but she quickly understood what it meant and found the signs.
After this, it became harder for her to relate to her father. Throughout the years, magic became more and more important to her and she could not share any of this with him. His memories were not the memories she held and he was believing a lie. His genius brain could not comprehend the good in magic and it always freaked him out. He was a man of science. He was a muggle.
This drew her to bond with her mother, a woman of different personality but her mother who she loved dearly. It was always her mother to help her pack and shop. It was her mother who would wipe her father's mind when she slipped up and mentioned wizardry.
At school, Nova was sorted to Ravenclaw and quickly found her home in a quiet room. Nova found it difficult to bond with her roommates and soon moved into an extra room that had been left empty. Throughout her school years she sought to be placed in an empty room, often sleeping in a corner of the common room if this was not possible, in spite of the prefect's admonishments.
Her favourite class was transfiguration, due to the fascination she had for transforming items. One of her goals is to master the animagus and she is constantly irritated by the knowledge that some achieve it by 14 and Professor McGonagall reached it by 17. Sometimes, she can be heard berating herself for being so slow at it.
Her second favourite class is potions because she has a knack for creating the concoctions. Sometimes her mischievous side gets a hold of this talent and can get her into trouble.

Nova clutched her books to her chest, leaning against the wall as she watch students scurrying to reach their classes on time. The door was locked. She knew she could just pull out her wand and use a spell but she was certain the professor would be annoyed if she did so. Besides, with her luck, another student would come along and fulfill that task anyhow. All she had to do was wait. A half smile crossed her face and she laughed to herself. They were so silly, humans. Always so certain that they knew what was going on and so often wrong. Silly, silly, silly.
